MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR OF GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

Civic engagement is the cornerstone of democracy. By engaging in government through voting and advocacy, we can effect change in our communities. In keeping with our 7 Cooperative Principles that promote Concern for Community, electric cooperatives model civic participation by engaging with elected leaders at the state, federal, and local level. By engaging with legislators, Cooperatives can advocate for policies that meet our legislative goals of ensuring reliable, affordable service for all cooperative members.

That’s the guiding principle behind the Legislative Guide, designed to enable members of electric cooperatives in Virginia, Maryland and Delaware to contact their elected representatives and make their voices heard with the convenience of a tap on a cellphone or a click on their computer.

We hope that this resource will encourage our cooperative members to become more involved in the political process and make your voice heard.
