SB194:

Insurance; public adjusters, standards of conduct.

Bill Summary:

Insurance; public adjusters; standards of conduct.
Prohibits a public adjuster from engaging in any activity that may
reasonably be construed as a conflict of interest, including soliciting
or accepting any remuneration of any kind or nature, directly or
indirectly, except as set forth in a public adjusting contract with
an insured. Additionally, the bill provides that for the purposes
of the prohibition on a public adjuster having a financial interest
in an insured's claim, "financial interest" includes participation
by a public adjuster, directly or indirectly, in the reconstruction,
repair, or restoration of damaged property that is the subject of
a claim adjusted by that public adjuster. The bill contains technical
amendments.
